LIGHTWORX ENTERTAINMENT SET TO RELEASE ASHES OF EDEN Spring 2016 Nashville, TN (July 2, 2015) – LightWorx Entertainment is set to release the film, Ashes of Eden, on April 5,, 2016.  Starring Steven Sutherland, Melissa Anschutz, Michael Joiner and DJ Perry, the inspirational yet edgy crime drama was written and directed by Shane Hagedorn and produced by New House Entertainment, Collective Development, Inc. and Ahptic Film & Digtal.  The official trailer for the film can be viewed at www.lightworxentertainment.com/films/ashes-of-eden.

“Ashes of Eden is a great film and we’re proud to have it on our LightWorx roster,” says Maricle, managing partner for the company. “Shane and his team did a knock out job of creating a cutting-edge story that is both relevant and edgy.”

Ashes of Eden is the story of Red (Sutherland), an 18 year-old who made some bad choices and has done his time, but is still paying the consequences.  Secretly selling stolen drugs in order to help his police officer mother (Anschutz) pay the mortgage, Red unknowingly starts a bloodbath between rival dealers and ends up in the center of the spotlight.  This gritty cautionary tale proves that having a bad reputation and being in the wrong place at the wrong time are an unfortunate combination – even when you’re trying to do the right thing – but also reassures that redemption can come.

“I am excited to be working with the team at Lightworx, bringing the world this powerful film” Hagedorn explains. “They really nailed it with the new poster art, (for Ashes) It totally captures the tone of this film. Gritty and Redemptive, the prodigal son returned.”

Packaging artwork for Ashes of Eden was designed by Jason Parish of Storytown Creative.

Following a sold-out festival record of 600+ at the 2014 Capital City Film Festival in Lansing MI, “Ashes of Eden” producers DJ Perry and Shane Hagedorn were approached by East Lansing Festival Director, Susan Woods.  She encouraged Perry and Hagedorn to submit ‘Ashes’ to this year’s East Lansing Film Festival.  ELFF, now in its seventeenth year, is the oldest and second largest in Michigan. Ashes of Eden was submitted, accepted, and is now officially part of the Lake Michigan Film Competition, which could be eligible for cash prizes and awards such as BEST FEATURE FILM.

"Our Michigan made film has had a fantastic year. To close out 2014 as an official selection to ELFF, is a great achievement. I believe our film represents the very best of Michigan talent and creative artists. To screen our film at a prestigious film festival like ELFF is an honor." – Shane Hagedorn, Writer/Director/Producer

Ashes continues an impressive and successful theatrical run throughout the state of Michigan playing for several weeks at Celebration Cinema in both Lansing and Grand Rapids. The film just concluded a run at Emagine theaters at the Novi and Canton Michigan locations.  Discussions with several theater chains are still underway.

“We’ve appreciated the opportunity to play on the big screen and look forward to being able to give others at home the same opportunity. We are planning on making a big announcement at the ELFF screening concerning this.” – DJ Perry Producer/Co-star

The producing team plans to announce a North America distribution deal for the title at the ELFF. Sources say it will be available on DVD, VOD, and streaming media platforms, first quarter of 2015.

“ASHES OF EDEN” FILM GAINS MOMENTUM AS THEATRICAL EXPANDS

For Immediate Release – August, 2014

LANSING, MI USA - In a changing market where theatrical numbers are down, distributors and exhibitors are looking for new ways to increase traffic. One way is to bring fresh exciting content to the theater and that is what is happening with films like “Ashes of Eden”. Audiences want to see powerful dramas that have realistic topics and inspirational messages. While “Ashes of Eden” has drawn great reviews from the faith market, it is a crime drama first. The story follows a young man in trouble with the law and his mother, a police officer, wrestling with her faith. This film attracts both the youth and adult markets providing a glimpse at the communication issues that often exist between them.

FOUR STAR REVIEW

“Ashes of Eden is a tension filled and emotionally packed movie. It’s gritty and raw, presenting a visceral slice of reality that is all too often absent from faith-based movies. But it’s also a powerfully redemptive movie, one in which God’s grace and mercy can be clearly seen.” - Christian St. John (Christian Review)

“Our screenings have had big turnouts, rivaling larger studio films playing at the same theater. Audiences have opportunities to vote with their dollar, and they are choosing our film [Ashes].” - Shane Hagedorn, director

The film has just been picked up to play in the Emagine Theater chain in the Detroit, Michigan area in mid September and is currently in negotiations with several other chains and art house theaters across the country. Producers DJ Perry and Shane Hagedorn will continue to book the film until the film’s 1st quarter 2015 North America domestic release on DVD and VOD everywhere.
